Mad World is a 1982 song by Tears for Fears. But it was covered by many artists, most notably by Gary Jules and Michael Andrews for the soundtrack of the movie Donnie Darko in 2001.
This violin tutorial is using the Gary Jules’s version; it uses a more slower beat than Tears For Fears’s version, and so it’s more easier to play.
Official music video: Mad World covered by Gary Jules
This music video was directed by Michel Gondry (we love his music videos). It begins with an aerial shot of a school; the bell rings and children go out onto the pavement. The rest of the video sees the children forming different shapes whilst Jules stands on the roof and watches from above. The video has over 100 million views since it was uploaded to YouTube on 8 January 2006.
